Tools including pliers and glass cutter on a workbench with colorful stained glass sheets and copper foil rolls for glass art or stained glass making.

Did you know there’s 2 methods of making stained glass art & windows?

The workshop teaches the copper foil method

Copper Foil Method

This method is more modern and allows for more detailed and intricate design work. We use thin copper tape around each glass piece to hold the design together. Each piece of glass is ground down to the perfect shape, copper taped & then connected by melting metal along the tape which is called soldering. It is not weather proof and should not be stored outside and can not be used to make windows.

Lead Method

This method is traditional and timeless. It is the way great artists have creative incredible windows all around the world. We use lead came (those metal strips in the photo) to frame each glass piece holding it together. The glass is tucked in to the lead channels, soldered together & then cemented to weather proof it.
